7 Exciting AI Features & Product Updates from Adobe Max

1. Firefly Image Model 2

Adobe has enhanced its generative AI model over the past several months, swiftly integrating AI features into its core applications, notably Photoshop.

During their announcement, Adobe disclosed that users have created an astounding three billion images using the Firefly Image Model, with one billion of those images generated in just the past month (September) following the official release of generative AI features within Photoshop. The impact of Adobe Firefly on Photoshop has already been remarkable, and it’s poised to get even better.

At the keynote address, Adobe introduced the brand-new Firefly Image Model 2, equipped with advanced AI capabilities. The upgraded Image Model gives users greater control over their prompts and generates significantly more detailed images, with resolutions now up to four times higher than before. Moreover, the new model allows users to upload artwork and enables them to mimic art styles and produce more authentic and imaginative images.

The Firefly Image Model 2 is now accessible via the Firefly web app, making it more accessible than ever to creative enthusiasts and professionals.

2. Photoshop: Generative Fill

Adobe’s innovative generative AI capabilities in Photoshop left everyone in awe. It seamlessly empowers users to manipulate photos, expand backgrounds, and insert objects with just a few words – and it’s nothing short of astonishing. In particular, the Firefly-powered Generative Fill and Generative Expand features allow Photoshop users to add, expand, or remove content using simple text prompts to achieve realistic results in seconds.

Designed for commercial use, Generative Fill and Generative Expand automatically match the perspective, lighting, and style of an image to deliver mind-blowing results. The content is created in a Generative layer, to which you can apply the power and precision of Photoshop to take your images to the next level.

3. Illustrator: Text-To-Vector & Retype

Adobe Illustrator’s new “text-to-vector” feature truly lives up to its name. Thanks to these new generative AI tools, Illustrator users can effortlessly create vector-based illustrations, subjects, scenes, and icons by simply inputting straightforward prompts. What’s more, it enables the generation of editable patterns using these prompts, adding another layer of creative freedom.

Another of Adobe’s generative AI features that truly stands out is “Retype.” This functionality allows users to identify fonts in Illustrator by scanning images, essentially transforming static text within an image into editable text. The tool goes a step further by identifying the precise font used in the image and suggesting similar fonts. These groundbreaking features are now accessible in the beta version of Illustrator, promising an exciting future for creative professionals.

4. Premiere Pro: Text-Based Video Editing

The future of Premiere Pro will be rooted in text-based video editing, with the introduction of cutting-edge AI-driven features.

A standout addition is the filler word detection tool, swiftly pinpointing and eliminating filler words such as “ums” and “uhs” from video content with a single click.

A new enhance-speech function has now been seamlessly integrated into Premiere Pro, harnessing AI to rectify audio imperfections within video clips. This innovative tool effectively eliminates excessive background noise and other distortions, resulting in significantly enhanced clarity of the primary speech audio.

These advanced features are now readily accessible through the Premiere Pro desktop application, promising an elevated editing experience for users.

5. After Effects: Rotobrush 3

Adobe’s Next-Gen Roto Brush 3, powered by a brand-new AI model, extracts objects from footage faster and more accurately than ever and requires fewer corrections. It enables you to refine your results for a beautiful composite, even when tracking objects that overlap or working with hard-to-mask footage, such as hair and transparencies.

The updated roto brush functions in the same way as the previous version in that you paint in the parts of the image that you want to roto and then hold the option key to paint out the parts you don’t want it to look at. You can then select which version of the brush you wish to use in the Effects Controls panel, and in After Effects version 24, we now have access to version 3.0.

6. Adobe Express: Text-To-Template AI Tools

Adobe Express has received an exciting update, introducing noteworthy features that promise enhanced user utility. Among these updates, two standout generative AI capabilities, Generative Fill and Text-to-Template, have been integrated into Adobe Express, elevating the platform’s versatility, particularly for crafting engaging social media campaigns.

Generative Fill empowers users to add, remove, or replace objects within images directly through Adobe Express. Powered by the same technology in Adobe Photoshop, this feature brings a whole new dimension to image editing.

Text-to-Template represents a leap in innovation, allowing users to generate editable templates based on simple prompts. This functionality enables the swift creation of various designs, including greeting cards, flyers, wedding invitations, posters, and more. It offers a seamless way to personalize templates according to individual needs and preferences.

What’s more remarkable is the platform’s newfound capability to facilitate the planning, creation, scheduling, and publication of complete social media campaigns. Adobe Express now offers comprehensive support for publishing directly to TikTok, ensuring a holistic solution for social media management. These exciting features will transform how users approach design and campaign management within Adobe Express.

One addition is the new HDR Optimization feature – a cutting-edge tool taking photo enhancement to a whole new level, remarkably improving image quality and vibrancy.
